Indian fan died in shock after Dhoni’s dismissal in WC semi-final

In a tragic revelation after India’s World Cup 2019 exit from the semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday, it has been reported that an Indian cricket fan died of shock suffering heart attack right after watching MS Dhoni’s dismissal.

The man who identified named Srikanta Maity, a 33-year old cycle shop owner from Bihar’s Kishanganj was collapsed and died witnessing Martin Guptill’s stunning direct hit run-out l in the 49th over of the second innings.

Srikanta was reported watching the match on his phone when the incident took place. He died of cardiac arrest.

Sachin Gosh, a sweet shop owner near the incident, said to Times of India,

“We rushed to his help on hearing a loud thud. We saw him lying unconscious on the floor. We took him to Khanakul hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,”

India went through a horrific start of the run chase losing 6 wickets before reaching the hundred run mark. Experienced MS Dhoni in accompaniment of Ravindra Jadeja constructed a 116-run seventh wicket partnership to settle India for the time being.

Dhoni closing near to bring the team a majestic win but Guptill hit the deck with an excruciating run-out hitting direct to the stumps as the veteran wicket-keeper batsman fall short from around two inches behind the crease.

New Zealand registered a 18-run win while defending 239 runs.
