Tamim was suffering from finger injury after a catching practice last month. Physio Bayejidul Islam gave a time of three weeks to the dashing batsman to recover.
But Tamim is confident. He spoke to Daily Kalerkantho, “If I can do net practice before 21 September and if I don’t feel any problem, then I will play.”
Bangladesh haven’t played any ODIs for ten months. Tigers’ last ODI series was against Zimbabwe last year in November. They did excellent in last year as they qualified for the Quarter Finals of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The men in red and green had beaten Pakistan by 3-0, India by 2-1, South Africa by 2-1 andnd Zimbabwe by 3-0. It was a golden year for the Tigers.
The number seven ranked side are yet to play a single ODI match in 2016. Tamim Iqbal says, “It’s been so long we haven’t played an ODI match.”
Tamim is targetting Afghanistan series so that Tigers can prepare themselves for England series. According to him, this series will be the key.
“England series is very important for us. Anyone will look to prepare himself nicely for a series like this. If I can play atleast two matches in Afghanistan series… Doesn’t matter whether you score runs or not, it will help greatly as a preparation to get back to the business,” Tamim said.
