IPL 2019: Three overseas players who can go for higher price from the set of released players

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 is officially launched now as all the franchises have revealed the list of players retained for the next season as well as released for the auction.

IPL 2019 likely to move ahead to rest Indian cricketers before WC

In the list of players released by each franchise, most of the names are the expected ones earlier considering their runs with the teams as well as their recent form. At the same time there some surprise exclusions in the list in the likes of Aaron Finch, Alex Hales, Carlos Brathwaite etc.

The participation of some players in the next edition as the ICC  Cricket World Cup will be around the corner when the richest league takes place. Already Cricket Australia and England Cricket Board have announced that their players won’t be available for the entire season.

Although some players won’t be available for the entire season, the demand for them will be high as always. Let’s have a look at three players who can be sold for higher prices from the sets of released players in the auction.

Aaron Finch

ICC T20I ranking: Finch acquires record breaking points

Aaron Finch was part of Kings XI Punjab in the last season. He had a dull season for them since he didn’t get a permanent spot for him in the lineup. But his release is a shocking one for sure.

Although he won’t be available for the entire season due to national commitments, he can be the matchwinner for the franchise in the games he got to play. His current form will play a key role in his buy in the auction.

The teams without explosive openers can go for him and simultaneously he can adapt himself as a good middle order batsman too like what he does for the national team. If his participation in the league is sure, then the franchises will try to go in him.

Carlos Brathwaite

Brathwaite in SRH

The Windies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite was in the runner-up, Sunriers Hyderabad in 2018. The irony was that he didn’t get enough chances in the season to do something for his team since his team had the luxury of many overseas players in red-hot form.

But for the other franchises who are lacking fast bowlers or all-rounders, he will be a good choice to go. He can be a good finisher as well as a handy fast bowler. His hitting ability will be a big plus for the teams he represents.

In the Indian Premier League, there is always a high demand for the Caribbean players since they are the T20 specialists. Carlos Brathwaite is also not an exception in the list. So there is a high expectation on him during the auction.

Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell ton sets consecutive win for Australia

Glenn Maxwell was in the Delhi Daredevils in his last outing in the league. Maxwell is one of the big names in the history of the league. His exclusion from the franchise comes under surprise.

At the moment he is good form too after excluded from Australian Test squad. The only problem with him will be the national commitments as in the case of present Australian limited-overs captain  Aaron Finch. But there will be a ray of hope since some Australian players are retained like Steve Smith and David Warner.

The Australian all-rounder always finds his name in the top lists whenever he comes under hammer. There is a talk that the league will be played in South Africa. In such cases, he will be a big asset for the team that picks him.
