This year’s edition of the Indian Premier League has come to a conclusion with Mumbai Indians clinching their fifth title in the history of the league. The tournament happened after a big delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation across the world. Still, BCCI and IPL governing council managed to conduct yet another successful season of the league in the United Arab Emirates with bio-security bubbles.
The season witnessed many astonishing performances as usual in all the departments. In this season, especially Indian youngsters showed great temperament than in other seasons. 1.Openers – Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal is the find of the season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was magnificent with the bat as an opener right from the start of the tournament. His inclusion provided the luxury for the franchise to play Virat Kohli at no.3. The left-handed opening batsman scored 473 runs in the 15 games he played with an average of 31.5 and a strike rate of 124.8.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also emerged as another promising opening batsman. The right-handed opening batsman started the season on a very much negative note as he was tested positive with coronavirus. Earlier he got a couple of chances in the team and failed to deliver. Later after a terrible performance by CSK in the season, Gaikwad was given the chance to open the innings. There he turned around his fortunes and scored hattrick half-centuries. On the whole, he scored 204 runs with an average of 51 and a strike rate of 120.71.
