IPL 2020: Delhi register another loss as Hyderabad keep playoff hopes alive
Sunrisers Hyderabad went down to field to play against Delhi Capitals with a difficult equation in mind yesterday in Dubai. If they lose, they would be out of the tournament. But not only have they won accordingly, they have blown away Delhi with ease.
Hyderabad batted first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium after losing the toss. They managed a big total of 219 runs with the loss of just 2 wickets. Two openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha made a devastating fifty. In reply, Delhi were all out for only 131 runs.
Chasing a target of 220, Delhi were never in a position that they could win the match. Hyderabad had been putting pressure on them from the beginning. All the batsmen failed miserably. Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan registered this year’s best bowling figure in 4-0-7-3. Rishabh Pant was the highest run-scored for Delhi with 36 runs.
Earlier, Hyderabad openers Warner and Saha both picked-up fifties. Warner scored 66 runs off just 34 balls and Saha scored 87 runs off just 45 balls. Later, Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 44 off 31 balls gave Hyderabad the huge total of 219 runs.
This is Hyderabad’s second highest run win in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, they still have a chance to play in the top four. Now they have 10 points in 12 matches. Hyderabad will go to the play-offs if they win next two matches and complete some equations.
