The entire cricketing world is gearing up for this year’s edition of Indian Premier League. The league is all set to begin in United Arab Emirates next month, after a long postponement due to coronavirus.

The franchises are also gearing up for the tournament. Already franchises like Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals have left to the United Arab Emirates. The teams will have nearly a month training camp there before the start of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the defending champions, Mumbai Indians are stuck with a major blow in the form of their lead fast bowler Lasith Malinga. According to the sources from Sri Lanka, the fast bowler has opted out of the tournament, due to personal reasons.

According to Newswire, Lasith Malinga is unlikely to participate in this year’s edition due to family reasons. The right-arm fast bowler was instrumental in Mumbai Indians’ victory in the final against Chennai Super Kings during the last season.

With Lasith Malinga missing out the tournament, Isuru Udana will be the only Sri Lankan player in the league, who is going to represent Royal Challengers Bangalore. Also former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene who is part of the coach panel of Mumbai Indians has left to United Arab Emirates to join his franchise.
