IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore launch new jersey, logo


Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday unveiled their brand-new logo and jersey ahead of the 2020 edition of the competition starting from March 29.

On 14th February, RCB official Twitter handle revealed saying, “THIS IS IT. The moment you’ve been waiting for. New Decade, New RCB, New Logo!”

The new logo features the golden lion with a crown on a Cresent with Banglore written in curves and Royal Chellgerns in white on a black background.

Earlier, the Bangalore franchise raised fans’ eyebrows when their display picture on social media account was vanished and all their posts on Instagram were removed.

The removal of picture and posts were supposedly done after signing a deal with a new shirt sponsor in Muthoot Fincorp Ltd.

Although having a star-studded line-up including the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers RCB are yet to win their maiden IPL trophy although they finished as runner-up in three occasions.

Addressing the media on the launch of new visual identity, Sanjeev Churiwala, RCB chairman, said,

“The elements in the logo is a commitment to continuously entertain and engage with fans who are the force behind Royal Challengers Bangalore.”

“We believe a change in identity for the club was necessary to effectively live and breathe this vision and celebrate the passion for cricket and playing bold,” he added.

Later in the day, the franchise welcomed Muthoot group as their new title sponsor. They wrote, “Presenting to you, the RCB Jersey design for Vivo IPL 2020. We are excited to welcome @MuthootIndia as our title sponsor. #PlayBold #NewDecadeNewRCB”

The team name and social media handles will remain as before.
