IPL 2021: Kohli reprimanded for breaching IPL’s Code of Conduct
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has been given an official reprimand for breaching Level 1 breach of clause 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct during the group stage match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday in Chennai.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai,” IPL said in an official clause.
“Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it added.
TV cameras got Kohli kicking an advertising cushion just as a chair set by the dugout following his dismissal for 33 by Jason Holder. Unexpectedly, a comparative offense by Gautam Gambhir in an IPL game against RCB in 2016 had seen him get docked 15% of his match charge.
RCB defeated SRH by 6 runs in a nail-biting match. SRH were able to score 143/9 in 20 overs in reply of RCB’s 149/8. Kohli scored 33 runs off 29 balls while Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was the player of the match playing a match-winning knock of 59 runs off 41 balls.
