IPL brand value rises to $6.8 billion in 2019
The cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) has experienced a growth slow down to 13.5 percent in the overall value this year duo to the scheduling of the World Cup and the sluggish business environment.
But there was an increase in the overall value to Rs 47,500 crore this year from Rs 41,800 crore in 2018. This is an increase in the overall value of the IPL ecosystem from US$6.3 billion in 2018 to US$6.8 billion in 2019, a growth of 7% after considering currency fluctuations.
Duff & Phelps, the global adviser which protects, restores and maximizes value for clients, has announced the aforementioned findings from its IPL Brand Valuation Report 2019.
However, individual franchise brands has gone through mixed fortunes, with their brand values increasing or decreasing depending on their on-field performance.
The Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians who are the best performers in the competition, has seen an increase in their worth.
Whereas the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore have slipped down to the line after being placed in the fifth and eighth in the point table respectively.
The Delhi Capitals who were formerly named as the Delhi Daredevils, also saw an 8.9 per cent rise, taking their valuation to Rs 374 crore in 2019.
