IPL: Dhoni, Raina, Fleming congratulated by CSK

CSK star cricketers MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and chief coach Stephen Fleming were congratulated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for being the longest-serving pillars of the franchise since its inception and Stephen Fleming, in particular, was playing for CSK in an initial couple of years. Then he became the head coach of the team in 2009 and that’s how the journey was for them.

The three of them were also a part of the team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) glory in (2010, 2011, 2018) and Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) wins (2010, 2014). However, CSK’s come back to the league after 2 years of suspension was quite phenomenal as they clinched their third IPL title by getting the better of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2018 final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Challenge is to win the Cup again: Fleming

Ahead of the season, Fleming said that retaining the IPL title again will be a tough challenge for his side. There were scores of comments against CSK for having uncles in their team but the players shut every trollers’ mouths by winning the trophy with experienced players in the team. Even Fleming also said that side always prefers experienced players because they know what it is like to make a comeback and to react in crucial moments.

“Our challenge is to win the Cup again. It’s difficult, takes a lot of things to work for you. We’ve come back and rebased ourselves on what we need to do to stay comfortable and what we need to do from a skill point of view to compete with seven other very good sides,” Fleming added.

“We prefer experienced players because they identify big moments and last year they won them. That’s our challenge again.”

CSK will begin their title defence against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
