IPL flop Hetmyer reacts after he was named player of the match
IPL has witnessed hits and flops in this season and Shimron Hetmyer was the biggest flop for RCB without second thoughts. The ever-so talented batsman who is capable of hitting sixes with ease was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise for 4.20 crore rupees at the mega auction.
But he failed to live up to his reputation as he chipped in with single digit scores, which was not really expected from a player of top quality.
Hetmyer shot into prominence when he ripped the Indian bowlers apart and smashed a century and some couple of candid knocks during the team’s tour of India last year. With a flick of his wrists, he would launch the balls straight into the gallery or the second-tier stands.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t implement the heroics here in IPL. However, he ensured to put on a good show in team’s last match in the group stage, giving his fans something to cheer for at the end of the season.
Hetmyer ruined SRH’s dreams
Hetmyer ruined SRH’s party as he smashed 47-ball 75 with as many as 6 sixes and 4 fours to his name. His knock came during team’s run-chase of 176 set by SRH. He was named the man of the match for his splendid knock.
“This time was a little bit tough for me. Getting used to the environment, getting used to the IPL was tough for me. I just had a word with the team management and they said have some fun. I just tried to clear my mind as much as possible and wanted to execute my plans,” he said at the post match presentation after receiving player of the match award.
Last but not the least, he said he picked some important lessons from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the dressing room. “The experience of IPL has been fantastic. I have learned a lot from Virat and ABD and even the coaches. RCB are a fantastic side and a fantastic franchise. I am just trying to take my game one step at a time and just try to move up in whatever way I can,” he concluded.
