IPL: Mumbai Indians name replacement for Alzarri Joseph
Proteas left-arm seam bowler Beuran Hendricks has been roped in by Mumbai Indians (MI) as a potential replacement of Alzarri Joseph for the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.
Actually, Alzarri Joseph himself was called in as a replacement for Adam Milne and he didn’t disappoint the fans as he had produced an electrifying record-breaking spell of 6/12 on his IPL debut.
However, tragedy soon struck him as he picked up an arm injury and scan reports revealed that he should no longer participate in the tournament. Everything was going just fine for the Caribbean until he had dislocated his arm while he put an effort to dive near the long-off boundary rope in only in his third game for Mumbai Indians.
The 28-year-old Beuran Hendricks will be looking forward to making the first impression for MI. He has featured in only 2 ODIs and 10 T20Is for the national team, with the most recent appearance against Pakistan in home series earlier this year.
Hendricks is also not a part of South Africa’s World Cup squad, so he has no worries to leave the team midway or in the later stages as he will be available for the remainder of the IPL season.
Beuran boasts a decent record as a bowler as he has picked 12 wickets in 8 matches in Mzansi Super League. He is someone who likes to bowl at a brisk pace and would swing the ball nicely. Well, this is not first IPL appearance for Hendricks as he has represented Kings XI Punjab in 2014.
As the points table stands, Mumbai Indians are placed at third spot after 10 games who are behind Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
