IPL: SRK reveals what Russell said to him after KKR’s win
The two-time Indian Premier League champions, Kolkata Knight Riders sparked the league on a sensational lift as they notched up a clinical win over Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Had it not been for Andre Russell’s blitzkrieg, then maybe KKR wouldn’t have crossed the line.
The home side had wickets in hand but just lost momentum in scoring runs and while they were on the challenging end, requiring 53 runs to win in the last three overs, Andre Russell was the man for KKR. He scored an unbeaten 49 off 19 balls as he built a 65-run stand with Shubman Gill for the fifth wicket.
Who would have thought this for a turnaround? Russell did it with ease. He smashed Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul’s bowling and sending the balls out of the park became as easy as a whistle for powerful Russell whose knocked spiced up with 4 fours and 4 sixes to his lofty standards of brutal counterpunching techniques as they finished the match with two balls to spare.
Following the win, KKR co-owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan took to his Twitter handle to share that all-rounder Andre Russell was so joyed with the fans’ support that he even wanted to cry, but decided not to. SRK reveals why.
“@Russell12A said to me that he was so overwhelmed with the welcome fans gave him, that he wanted to cry. Then decided big boys don’t cry in public. @NitishRana_27 @robbieuthappa & @RealShubmanGill & the whole team plays for You Kolkata,” the 53-year-old wrote on Twitter.

With an impressive net run rate, KKR move to the top of the table. Dinesh Karthik & Co will take on Ravichandran Ashwin’s Kings XI Punjab at Eden Gardens on March 27, Wednesday.
