Actually, Dale Steyn himself was roped in to replace an injured Nathan Coulter-Nile in the squad. But little did he know that he would be there only for a short period of time in this ongoing edition of IPL.

Talking about his game time, he played only two matches and made an instant impact for his team that is fighting for revival in this season. Steyn was at his impressive best for RCB as he picked wickets in the powerplay for the team, something which other bowlers failed to up the ante in crunch moments of the game.

Steyn did not play against Kings XI Punjab in the recently-concluded match due to an inflamed shoulder.

“Dale Steyn has been prescribed with ample rest due to inflammation in his shoulder. On account of state of his health, Dale will not be available to take part further in the ongoing season of IPL.

Dale Steyn’s experience helped RCB

His presence has helped the team immensely and we are very thankful for the inspiration and passion that he brought to the squad. The team will deeply miss his energy and presence around. We wish him a speedy recovery and all the luck for all future endeavours.” Said RCB in a statement released on Thursday.

RCB now can’t seek for a potential replacement for the veteran as more than half the season has already finished.

According to Kohli, Steyn’s presence was indeed a sheer essence as he helped Navdeep Saini and Mohammad Siraj to shape themselves in the best possible way.

The South African spearhead has been named in the team World Cup squad and is recuperating an injury now before the team face England for the marquee event.
