IPL trades: Trent Boult moves to Mumbai Indians from Delhi Capitals


New Zealand speed star Trent Boult will turn out for the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2020 after being traded by the Delhi Capitals earlier on Wednesday.

Boult roped in for Delhi Capitals since 2018 after being purchased for Rs 2.2 crore. He finishing the season as the franchise’s highest wicket-taker with 18 wickets from 14 games, just behind the Purple Cap winner Andrew Tye.

Boult made his IPL debut in 2014, he has 38 IPL wickets from 33 games.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Trent for the time he spent with us, and his contribution to the Delhi team,” said Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal on the development.

“I wish him all the very best for his stint with Mumbai Indians which I am sure will be a successful one,” he said.

In another trade, uncapped pacer Ankit Rajpoot too, has been traded by Kings XI Punjab and will represent Rajasthan Royals in the forthcoming season. The right-arm fast bowler, who joined KXIP in 2018, has played 23 IPL matches and has 22 wickets.

In a league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018, Rajpoot delivered an acclaimed performance when he claimed 5-14. Rajpoot hailed from Uttar Pradesh, is the only uncapped player to have a five-wicket haul in the IPL.

Last week, Kings XI Punjab traded their skipper of the last two seasons Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals and brought in Jagadeesha Suchith, the Karnataka left-arm spinner in return. The franchise also got a sum of Rs 1.5 crore.

The window of trade will be open until November 14. The list of released and retained players will be announced on November 15.
