Irfan reacts after Yusuf goes unsold for first time in IPL auction

It is always a sad story when big players go unsold in the IPL auction and that’s what happened to Yusuf Pathan. For a player of Yusuf Pathan’s calibre and reputation, it was really embarrassing to see no franchise showing any interest in purchasing his services for the upcoming Indian Premier League.

Yusuf Pathan was released by SRH ahead of the IPL auction.

Yusuf Pathan has a wide range of experience in the shorter format and has been playing the IPL since its inception. After twelve years, he went unsold for the first time in his IPL career. It was indeed shocking news. Yusuf Pathan was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the auction and set his base price at INR 1 crore.

In 2008, Yusuf was drafted in by Rajasthan Royals after his performances in the domestic circuit. He gave absolutely everything for the franchise scoring 435 runs with his bat and helped his team to win the 2008 IPL title.

He has given so many memories to the fans in the form of scoring fastest half-centuries and one of the fastest centuries in the IPL history. He holds a record of scoring the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian player. In the year 2010, Pathan scored a century in just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians.

He was then signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders where he won IPL 2012 and 2014. But when he moved to SRH in IPL 2018, he couldn’t prove his worth despite featuring in two seasons.

After he went unsold at the auction for the very first time, Irfan Pathan took to his official Twitter handle to post a heart-felt message. He wrote: “Small hiccups doesn’t define your career, you have been outstanding thru out. A real match-winner. Love you always Lala @iamyusufpathan.”
