The Tigers are playing down expectations in the big ICC tournament after the country have been exhibiting continued improvement in the limited over version of the game for last several years.

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, pleased with the success of the team said reaching in the semifinals is a big achievement for the growing nation.

“It’s a big thing for our cricket” – he said; “It’s a tournament of the top eight teams and is more challenging than the World Cup. So, to be in the semifinal is itself an achievement for us. It is also a reward for our continued effort towards improving our game” – Mortaza summed up.

“I think everyone has contributed to what we are today. The whole nation will be with us as they were in our desperate times and good times” – Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said.

Upon a belligerent batting display by Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad, Bangladesh defeated New Zealand rising from the ashes in their last group match to assure the semifinal berth.
