It was easy for us: Shakib
Pat Cummins’ pace proved too fast for Bangladesh top-order as three wickets were down for ten runs in four overs. Opener Tamim was joined by number one all-rounder Shakib. They changed the momentum of the game nicely since then.
The fourth-wicket partnership added 155 runs which helped recover from early collapse and gave the Tigers a good platform to post 260. According to Shakib, the partnership was crucial.
“It was quite challenging. I think we have applied ourselves very well. Our partnership was crucial for this match. It was a good partnership in this condition,” he said at the press conference after day one at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Shakib also said that he and Tamim didn’t have communication problem at the crease since they know each other very well and it made easier for them to build probably a game-changing partnership.
“We didn’t talk too much. We just concentrated to keep batting. We were batting much better after the first session but unfortunately, two balls popped up and we lost our wickets.
“It was easy for us (to build partnership) since we have been playing together for a long time. There should not be any sort of problem in communication between us as we both are playing our 50th Tests,” Shakib said.
