It will be exciting to work with Shakib: Vettori


Former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of New Zealand.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday that Charl Langeveldt and Daniel Vettori have been roped in to bolster team’s bowling brigade and to add a new dimension to the bowling attack.

Charl Langeveldt will play the role as national team’s new fast bowling coach for two years replacing Courtney Walsh whereas Vettori will serve as their short-term spin bowling coach for Bangladesh’s tour of India in November. He will continue to remain at the end of the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.

After being appointed as the spin bowling coach, Vettori revealed that he has been following Bangladesh cricket for a while now and he is excited to work with Shakib Al Hasan and co.

“I have been following Bangladesh cricket for a while now. I have good memories in this country. This team has both experience & ability. It will be exciting to work with Shakib, Mehidy, Taijul and other youngsters. I am eagerly waiting,” he said.

Vettori is also aware of the fact that Bangladesh’s biggest strength is spin and promised that he will use all his experience to help Bangladesh.

“I know that Bangladesh’s biggest strength is spin. After playing in all formats and as a coach, I will be using all my experience to help the team. I want to help the bowlers so that they can use their ability properly,” he concluded.
