It’s going to be tough for Mumbai Indians as well: AB de Villiers
Former South African player AB de Villiers heaped praise on the five-time IPL champions but at the same time added that it won’t be an easy outing for the Rohit Sharma-led team against the RCB in Chennai.
AB de Villiers who has been a mainstay of RCB’s batting line-up for several years is pretty much confident that RCB have got all their bases covered. The former Proteas player hopes that the new recruits will go all guns blazing in this campaign.
While speaking to RCB’s YouTube channel ahead of the tournament opener, the South African stalwart said: “It’s the first game of the IPL, and we all are very excited. Mumbai Indians are a fantastic team, who have won the trophy numerous times.
We know what we will be up against, and I am very excited to see what we are made of.“We have got a few new faces this year. Guys like Dan Christian, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson and others have come to this setup.
They are quite a few experienced heads. I know it’s a tough game first up, but I am looking forward to it. It’s going to be tough for Mumbai as well.”
Meanwhile, RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians got off to a steady start but lost their captain Rohit Sharma in the form of a run-out. The incident happened during the last ball of the fifth over when Chris Lynn hit the ball straight to Virat Kohli.
RCB captain picked up the ball and threw it towards Chahal and the latter whipped the bails off. There was never a run but Rohit who was at the non-striker’s end decided to take a single but was dismissed by the joint efforts of Kohli and Chahal.
