Iyer leads Daredevils to survive in the competition
Delhi Daredevils made a satisfactory turn around in what was their fairly last chance to hit back and stay alive in the competition, registered their second win in the league on contrary to five losses.
Shreyas Iyer, the newly crowned captain of Delhi Daredevils after Gautam Gambhir’s abrupt decision of step down, took his in a new height, leading from the front, snatched a 55 run win against Kolkata Knight Riders in front of home crowd at Feroz Shah Kotla ground.
Smacking a belligerent 93 runs, unbeaten at the end, Iyer’s innings took the Daredevils to mount 219 runs, a total that proved fairly unreachable for Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the beginning of the show when Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first, India’s young generation batting representatives Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer throttled the opposition’s decision with big shows of power hitting.
