India's experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the Bangladesh tour as he’s yet to recover from knee surgery. He did the surgery in September after the Asia Cup. All-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed replaces him in the ODI squad.
Along with Jadeja, Yash Dayal has been also ruled out of the Bangladesh tour. Yash has not yet recovered from back pain. Due to this, he was dropped from the team for the three-match ODI series. Instead, pacer Kuldeep Sen will come to Bangladesh with the Indian team.
Kuldeep Sen and Shahbaz Ahmed were supposed to travel to Auckland for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand but now they’ll travel to Bangladesh.
While the international arena is new for Kuldeep, Shahbaz has already played two ODIs in the Indian jersey. Note that Jadeja was injured in the Asia Cup match against Hong Kong.
Shahbaz has been in outstanding form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy with 11 wickets in 6 matches and two half-centuries batting lower down the order. On the other hand, Sen has been in terrific form too being the highest wicket-taker in the tournament till the group stage.
Jadeja was named in the Indian squad for both ODIs and Tests against Bangladesh. But he’ll now miss the ODI series and possible the Test series too.
