Jadeja rated as most valuable Indian Test player in 21st century
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rated as the most valuable Indian Test player in the 21st century with a MVP rating of 97 by the Wisden magazine.
Ravindra Jadeja had a quite eventful journey so far with the men in blue and he also been one of the players, who was in and out in the team. While he has failed to make it big with the bat in the limited-overs format, he has been influential with the ball and particularly in the field for India.
Jadeja is labelled as one of the best fielders in world cricket at the moment and it has helped him to stick in the team. Apart from his tremendous fielding skills, Jadeja has been a valuable player for Virat Kohli with the ball in the longer format of the game as well. He has contributed in many games with the ball and helped to win against sides like England and Australia at home.
However, despite the presence of players like Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in Test cricket, the all-rounder has been rated as the most valuable Test player by Wisden Magazine. And to everyone’s surprise, he got an MVP rating of 97, which is only behind the legendary former spinner Muralitharan.
Jadeja made his Test debut in 2012 and has since played 49 matches, scored 1869 runs with one century and 14 fifties apart from 213 wickets as well. The ratings were made based on analytics provided by Cricviz. Each cricketer was awarded an MVP rating’ using a statistical model to rank their match impact’ compared to their peers.
Muralitharan, who bagged the most Test wickets in the history of the game topped the list with 800 wickets from 133 Tests at an average of 22.72. The full list will be published in July’s edition of the Wisden magazine.
