Jadeja to miss CSK’s pre-season conditioning camp
Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful franchise of Indian Premier League (IPL), is set to start preparations for the upcoming IPL season next week (August 15-20). Initially there will be a conditioning camp with the players of the team. The full cricket skill camp will start later.
But Chennai is not getting one of the best stars of the team Ravindra Jadeja in the conditioning camp. Among Indian star cricketers, only Jadeja will not be able to join the camp on time. Besides, captain MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu will all be in the camp.
Kasi Viswanathan, chief executive officer of Chennai Super Kings, said Jadeja’s failure to attend the camp on time was entirely personal. However, despite not attending the conditioning camp, Jadeja will join the Dubai-bound Chennai team on August 21.
Chennai has received written permission to use the MA Chidambaram Stadium for conditioning camps. The camp with Indian players will be held at the closed-door stadium. Among the coaching staff, only bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji will be in the camp.
Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that head coach Stephen Fleming and assistant coach will join the team directly in Dubai on August 22. The Chennai CEO is also hoping to get the team’s two South African cricketers, Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi, by September 1.
