James Vince in to replace Alex Hales
James Vince has replaced Alex Hales in England’s squad for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan.
The Hampshire batsman has come into the side after Hales was suspended following an “off-field incident” that led his (Hales) total withdrawal from all of England’s white-ball squads.
30-year old Hales was reportedly banned for 21-days for recreational drug use.
Hampshire captain Vince, who struck 190 on Friday for Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup, said,
“I am obviously really pleased to be back in the fold and hopefully I can push my case ahead of the World Cup.”
Vince’s last played a limited over match in July 2018 against India at Headingley.
“I have not really been part of an ODI squad in England so if I do get a run hopefully I can capitalise on that and show what I can do,” he said.
“[Hales] must be going through a fair amount. He has made a mistake and acknowledged that. I am good friends with him and hopefully he is all right,” Vince further added.
England face Pakistan in five 50-over games, before that, the hosts will face the subcontinent side in a Twenty20 match.
