World Cup winning batsman Roy is the second overseas signing for Perth after his countryman Liam Livingstone. Roy earlier pulled himself out of Indian Premier League where he was picked by current table toppers Delhi Capitals. He says he is excited to join a formidable Scorchers side.

“The Scorchers squad looks very strong, I’m excited to be joining the club,” Roy said.

“I’ve heard the environment of the club is awesome and that it’s a place where everyone wants to help get the best out of each other.

“I can’t wait to get amongst the boys and help contribute to as many wins as possible.”

Roy has played for two Sydney clubs – a brief journey of one season with Sydney Thunder and two seasons with Sydney Sixers in the BBL.

The tenth edition of Big Bash League will kick off from the 3rd December. Cricket Australia is hopeful of getting fans at the venues amid COVID-19 pandemic which has had a lesser impact on Australia.
