The all-rounder of New Zealand cricket team, Jimmy Neesham hit back at former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra after his questioned his role in the playing eleven of Kings XI Punjab.

The right-handed bowler retained his place in the XI for their game against Mumbai Indians. He went on to concede 52 runs from his 4 overs and could score only 8 runs.

After the game against Mumbai Indians, the former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra questioned his place in KXIP’s playing XI when they have Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The mystery spinner from Afghanistan has been with the Punjab franchise since 2018.

“They play Neesham, an overseas fast bowler, who neither bowls in the powerplay nor in the death overs. He is neither a great finisher nor a big batsman who bats in the top four or five. So why is Kings XI Punjab playing him? You are playing a player who is not really a match-winner.

“First thing is that Kings XI Punjab is not playing the right team. Honestly, they are the only team in the world where Mujeeb is not able to make it to the playing XI after being in the squad,” Chopra said on his Youtube channel.

But, the all-rounder gave a perfect reply by pointing out his poor T20 average and strike rate.

The former Indian cricketer played 21 games for Kolkata Knight Riders in the first IPl seasons. But he could score just 334 runs at a poor average of 18.55 and a strike-rate of about 91.

“Averaging 18.5 striking at 90 doesn’t win many matches either,” Neesham replied to Chopra’s comments.

However, Aakash Chopra was quick to reply on Neesham’s tweet. He replied,” “Correct my friend. That’s why nobody picks me anymore. I get paid for doing something else. I’m glad that you don’t have an issue with my observations but with my cricket stats. Go well for the rest of the #IPL.”

Kings XI Punjab lost three games so far and dropped to 7th place in the points table. KXIP’s next game will be against Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International stadium on October 4.
