John Lewis likely to be Bangladesh batting consultant


The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) likely to appoint England’s Jon Lewis for the role of batting consultant. The batting Consultant for Tigers are currently vacant due to departure of Neil McKenzie who worked as batting consultant from 2016. Although, BCB appointed Craig McMillan but he opted out due to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Lewis is expected to arrive in Dhaka for an interview after BCB decided to have a look at him and discuss with him. Before it, Neil McKenzie worked as batting consultant for the shortest formats from 2016. He worked as batting consultant in Test only during the India series. BCB wanted him to take over during Sri Lanka series. But McKenzie left the job citing personal reason.

After McKenzie, McMillan’s was supposed to join BCB but due to the shock of losing his father, he wanted to stay with his family. In context to it, BCB has reached John Lewis who showed interest immediately.

BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan confirmed to Cricbuzz about the latest development. “We are negotiating with him (Lewis) regarding the batting consultant post,” said Akram without elaborating any further. “At the same time they are also talking to a few other candidates and don’t want to disclose those names at the moment.”
