Though a certain section of the Lord’s crowd gave a standing ovation, some fans who booed Smith is what annoys Mitchell Johnson to the core.

Annoyed by the fans’ behaviour towards Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson hit out at the fans for their unhealthy attitude as he feels that they are breaking the spirit of cricket.

“It has really disappointed me. I do not care what people say. Yes, they can say he is a cheat and whats why we are booing him but that is absolute rubbish to me. Yes, he has done what he has done,” the former Australia pacer said in a video posted by ESPN Cricinfo.

Australia’s best batsman faced two terrible blows on day 4 of the second Test match at Lord’s which was completely overshadowed by Jofra Archer’s brutal bowling spell.

Initially, Smith was beaten all ends up as he was struck on the elbow by Archer and after that, he picked up a striking blow on the neck by Archer’s lethal bouncer as Smith quickly fell to the turf.

Physios from both England and Australia rushed towards Steven Smith to check whether he is alright, but the batsman had to walk off the pitch in a bid to have a concussion test. A little while later, the batsman made his way back to the crease, but some section of England crowd was seen booing the player, in what was truly disgusting.

“One of the biggest disappointing things for me was the crowd and I am not saying it was the whole crowd, but there were a couple of boos that you could hear through the microphone,” Johnson said.

“You can boo him when he comes out to bat at the start of innings, but seeing him getting booed when he came back out after being struck by Archer, that was disappointing. The fans that booed Smith are not cricket fans according to me,” he added.

However, Steven Smith didn’t bat an eye and concentrated on his work as he went on to score 92 runs
