Junaid joins Rajshahi, replaces Talukdar
Left-handed opening batsman Junaid Siddique has joined the Rajshahi Kings team in place of Rony Talukdar, who is ruled out due to side strain injury. [Read in Bangla: রাজশাহী কিংসে যোগ দিলেন জুনায়েদ সিদ্দিক]
Right-handed Rony played only one match in AKS Bangladesh Premier League 2016, against Dhaka Dynamites. He scored 14 off 9 balls in that match. He fell to side strain injury during the match.
Rony Talukdar had given a test to doctor which didn’t bring a good result for him. His BPL 2016 campaign has been declared over. He didn’t play the match against Barisal Bulls.
Rajshahi Kings have brought their local boy from Rajshahi, Junaid Siddique in the team. He was unsold at Category C (price 12 lakh Bangladeshi takas) in the player auction.
Junaid had previously played for Duronto Rajshahi, Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Superstars in 2012, 2013, and 2015 BPL. He played 44 Twenty20 matches and scored 801 runs. His highest score is 89 not out against Barisal Bulls in 2012.
The 29-year old has recently scored a first-class hundred for Rajshahi Division against Rangpur Riders in National Cricket League (NCL). He scored 229 runs in three matches (four innings) in the league.
Junaid Siddique wrote on his Facebook account, “Please pray for me everyone. I’m joining Rajshahi Kings team.”
Rajshahi Kings have played three games till now in the fourth edition of BPL and won one. They will face the home side Chittagong Vikings on 18 November afternoon at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
