Junaid Khan picks best Pakistani batsman of the generation


Pakistani left-arm seamer Junaid Khan hit the headlines recently after he picked the best Pakistani batsman of the generation. There is no hiding to the fact that Babar Azam has been the most consistent batsman for Pakistani national cricket team and it was no surprise in seeing Junaid Khan pick Babar Azam as one among the best batsmen of the generation.

Whenever other batsmen fail to up the ante, it is Babar Azam who switch gears and take the game to the next level because he has been that good for Pakistan. In fact, he has been Pakistan’s most consistent batsman over the last year. Due to his incredible consistency, Babar Azam is widely praised as one of the top batsmen in the world.

Besides picking Babar Azam, Junaid Khan also picked England Test captain Joe Root, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and Australia batsman Steve Smith.

Nonetheless, the 30-year-old seamer said that India captain Virat Kohli is the best of the lot since he has been consistent across all the three formats.

“No doubt Kohli is the best batsman in all three formats. If you ask anyone, they’d say that guys like Babar Azam, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith are the best batsmen of the generation, but the best of the lot is Kohli because he’s performed outstandingly in all three formats,” Junaid Khan told the Cricingif show on YouTube as quoted by the Hindustan Times.

As far as Babar Azam is concerned, he is currently in England with the Pakistan cricket team, where he is preparing for the upcoming Test and T20 series. Talking about the latest update, the national team is currently in Derby but will fly to Manchester on August 1 ahead of the start of the Test series.

Pakistan are scheduled to play three-match Test series and as many T20 Internationals against England, with the first Test scheduled to be held on August 5 in Manchester and the T20 series will begin on August 28 at the same venue.
