Mahmudullah has been very successful as captain in BPL. He led Chittagong Kings (2013) and Barisal Bulls (2015) to the finals. He took Khulna to the top four last year and also became the player of the tournament.

Not only in BPL, the cool-minded killer has been very impressive as captain in other domestic circuits as well. He was Bangladesh’s vice-captain before.

Junaid has compared Mahmudullah’s coolness to India’s all-time great captain MS Dhoni and his country’s former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.

“He is a great captain. I have seen cool minded captain like MS Dhoni or Misbah-ul-Haq. They are always cool and calm in the field and they never shout to players in the field. Mahmudullah is similar to that. He also respect the seniors and take advice often if needed. Whenever unwanted things happen like dropped catch or misfielding or batsman getting out by playing loose shots or something like that, Mahmudullah never reacts angrily. He handles the situation calmly,” he explained.

When asked if he sees Mahmudullah as Bangladesh’s future captain, the left-arm pacer answered he would like the so called ‘silent killer’ as the first choice after Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“Of course. He is a good option considering the way he captains Khulna Titans and perform consistently and he has also performed very well in the ICC events. After Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, there are senior players like Mahmudullah, Shakib [Al Hasan] and Tamim [Iqbal]. But among these three, I will vote Mahmudullah as captain,” he added.
