Cheteshwar Pujara has been one of the consistent batters of the Indian national cricket team as far as the purest format of the game is concerned. The right-handed batter has scored runs when it mattered the most for a long time now.
Cheteshwar PujaraHowever, his form started to deteriorate since the last year. He hardly managed to make an impact with the bat in the last few Test series. Despite his poor form, the Indian team management kept on backing him by giving him chance after chance.
In fact, he was expected to dictate terms in the three-match Test series against South Africa in early January. However, he failed to showcase his mettle in the crucial series. The team management decided to drop him the Test team set-up.
He was not part of India's last Test series against Sri Lanka. Pujara was asked to play domestic cricket to get back to good form. He joined his domestic team Saurashtra where he gained some good form with the bat, scoring 2 fifties in three games of Ranji Trophy 2022.

Mohammed Kaif heaps praise on Cheteshwar Pujara's Test team comeback

The 34-year-old recently played for Sussex cricket team where he scored a whopping 720 runs in eight games at an outstanding batting average of 120. Meanwhile, Kaif has heaped praise on Pujara's Test team comeback and further added that the young players can learn so much from the veteran cricketer.
“You can learn so much from Pujara. If you get dropped, what do you have to do as a batter? You go back to County, you go back to Ranji and you score runs and runs and I mean, score tons and tons of runs. He has done that.
He’s an example for any young player who has been dropped and how to make a comeback. Probably you should go back to Pujara and watch what he has done in the last couple of months. He has been a fantastic player for India also. And I think he’ll play No.3 for India,” Kaif said during an interaction with NDTV.
Pujara will be back in cricketing action for the fifth Test against England which will start on July 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Team India have the upper hand over England as they are leading the series by 2-1.
