Kallis reveals the most powerful hitter he has ever seen
Kolkata Knight Riders coach Jacques Kallis showered his praise on Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell who steered the team to victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. Kallis who has seen a plethora of batsmen in the modern era reckons that the mighty Russell is one of the most powerful hitters he has ever seen.
“Russell is one of the most powerful hitters I have seen,” said Kallis on Monday. “It was a good knock and he timed it well. There were issues, including a light failure, but he got the runs despite all that. It was some of the best ball-striking I have seen in a long time.”
Russell did it with ease
When the team needed 53 runs to win in 18 balls, people wrote KKR off considering the fact that SRH has a really good bowling unit but it was when Andre Russell unleashed his true colours as he managed to get the better of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul and scored an unbeaten 49 off 19 balls and went on to construct a 65-run stand with Shubman Gill for the fifth wicket.
Russell hammered bowlers at will, in what was enough for KKR to pace up the innings achieve the target. Russell smashed 4 fours and 4 sixes to his brutal knock and as a result, they crossed the victory line with two more balls to spare.
Dinesh Karthik & Co will lock horns with Ravichandran Ashwin’s Kings XI Punjab at the iconic Eden Gardens on March 27, Wednesday.
