Comilla Voctorians have emerged the winner of the third season of the BRB Cables Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), beating Barisal Bulls by 3 wickets at a jampacked Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday evening to crown the title of the prestigious T20 tournament.
And it was Alok Kapali, the hero of the final, who played a cool, calm and collective knock to lead his team to the ultimate glory. Needing 13 runs in the last over of the match, Kapali hit two back to back boundaries off the bowling of Barisal’s Pakistani recruit Mohammad Sami and then took a cheeky single in the last ball of the match to topple the score of 156 that Barisal posted on the board earlier in the evening after being sent to bat first.
Kapali, who made 39 runs off 28 balls clobbering five boundaries on the trot, was at the cloud nine after hitting the winning runs for his team and considering today’s performance as the turning point of his career. He said, “I am really very happy. Such performance was very much needed for me to turn things around. I couldn’t bat well in the previous matches. So I was always under immense pressure. But thankfully I have been able to find the right touch just when it was needed the most. Maybe this is going to be the turning point of my career.”
