India successfully retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after getting the better of Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane where the home side didn’t lose a single match for 32 years. The likes of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant’s splendid show with the bat helped India ace the run chase of 328.

This is also India’s second consecutive Test series win in Australia, having won the trophy 2 years ago under Virat Kohli’s leadership. Former England international Pietersen took to Twitter to highlight Team India’s achievement in Australia.

Interestingly, he lauded Team India and warned them in Hindi. He echoed that the real challenge is when the England team comes to India in the next two weeks. “India – yeh aitihaasik jeet ka jashn manaye kyuki yeh sabhi baadhao ke khilaap hasil hui hai (Translation: This is a historic win, you must celebrate because it has been achieved despite all obstacles),” the former England captain congratulated Team India after the victory.

“LEKIN, ASLI TEAM toh kuch hafto baad a rahi hai jisse aapko harana hoga apne ghar mein (Translation: However, the real challenge comes your way in a few weeks, and you have to beat them at home),” he wrote, citing the England team.

“Satark rahe, 2 saptaah mein bahut adhik jashn manaane se saavadhaan rahen (Translation: Be careful, refrain from celebrating too much in the coming two weeks),” Pietersen added.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the squad for the first two Tests against England starting from February 5. Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma returned to the Test squad. Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj who did well against Australia in the recently-concluded Test series against Australia have also been named in the Test squad.
