England’s young fast bowler Tom Curran has been named as replacement of injured Mitchell Starc in Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad in upcoming VIVO IPL which kicks off on 7th April.
Starc was ruled out of the IPL 2018 with injury on his right shin. He was bought by KKR for INR 9.40 crore. This is the third consecutive the Australian paceman will miss an IPL season. He missed 2016 ans 2017 editions for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Curran went unsold at the auction at a base price of INR 1 crore (USD 1,56,000 approx). The Knight Riders have picked him for INR 1.62 crore (USD 2,53,000 approx).
“I’m thrilled and excited to be joining Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL. I know from chatting to other players I can learn a lot from being in that environment, skills that I hope will benefit Surrey and my chances of representing England again this year and if selected, for next year’s World Cup,” said Curran, one of England’s young guns who has shown potentials.
