Rahul Tripathi played a splendid innings of 81 off just 51 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which proved to be a match-winning knock in the end.

Batting at number 8, chances were hard to come by for Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rahul Tripathi to prove himself with the bat. With Sunil Narine consistently failing as an opener, Tripathi finally got the opportunity and he made the most out of it.

While KKR were losing one wicket after another, Tripathi played a blistering innings at the other end and helped his side to score a competitive score of 167 runs. He smashed 8 fours and 3 sixes at a strike-rate of 158.82.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the game in the end by 10 runs courtesy of some clinical bowling from Pat Cummins, Varun and Nagarkoti. But KKR owner Shahrukh Khan and the team-mates were in all praise for Tripathi for his terrific knock. He was also named the man of the match.

The batsman had a day of his life when KKR owner Shahrukh Khan praised him with his iconic dialogue in the presentation ceremony. While Tripathi was receiving the man of the match award, Shahrukh shouted from the stands “Rahul, naam toh suna hi hoga” which is a famous dialogue from his movie.

The KKR owner also congratulated his team and especially Tripathi via his twitter handle. The player was overwhelmed and described the moment as very special.
