KKR pocket 13 players for IPL 2019

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have retained 13 players out of 21 players from the last squad for the next season of the richest T20 League in the world.


IPL Governing committee has ordered all the franchises to announce the list of players retained by them for the next edition on or before November 15 considering the auction to be happening in the next month which is slightly an early one.

Kolkata Knight Riders had a good season last time with their new captain Dinesh Karthik although they didn’t make it to the finals of the tournament. Last time the franchise had the smallest squad with 21 players featured in the dugout.

The Knights strained to find their feet in the initial phase of the tournament but gradually gained momentum. They finished third in the points table with eight victories from 14 matches.

The Knights beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first qualifier in Kolkata, but couldn’t progress thereafter. In the meantime, the franchise has shared the list of released and retained players for the next edition.

The Kolkata based franchise retained only 13 players from the 21 players who featured in the last squad. Already they have released Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc from their squad and the pacer also confirmed it.

As usual Kolkata Knight Riders have retained as many Indian young players for the next edition along with the Caribbean stars Andrew Russell and Suni Narine. Chris Lynn also features in the retained list.

Mitchell Starc, Tom Curran, Mitchell Johnson, Cameron Delport, Javon Searles, Ishank Jaggi, Apoorv Wankhede, Vinay Kumar
