KKR sign Ali Khan as Gurney’s replacement


Ali Khan is all set to become the first player from USA to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He replaces England’s Harry Gurney, who suffered a shoulder injury.

USA fast bowler Ali Khan is having the moment of his life as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have confirmed that they will sign him and only awaiting approval from the IPL to sign as Harry Gurney’s replacement. The fast bowler will be flying to India just after becoming the champions of CPL with Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).

Trinbago, the CPL franchise is the same parent company as KKR. They won all of their 12 games to become the unbeaten champions. If IPL gives the green signal, then Ali Khan will be the second player along with Sunil Narine to play for both TKR and KKR in the upcoming season.

The fast bowler has picked 8 wickets in eight matches this season with an economy rate of 7.43. He has often been reliable in the death overs and has been getting the T20 contracts from around the world due to his consistent performance.

Ali was also a standby player for KKR last season, but this time Gurney’s injury was a blessing in disguise for the American. The fast bowler also picked up 16 wickets in 12 matches in his debut season of CPL in 2018. It was a breakout season for him and from there, the T20 contracts kept coming to him.

Apart from Ali, Kolkata have six more foreign players in their squad. with an economy rate of 7.43. Morgan, Russell, Narine and Cummins are expected to be the first-choice players for the four overseas slots
