KL Rahul star as Punjab seal a thriller over Sunrisers
Word has it that Sunrisers Hyderabad has defended exactly 150 twice against Kings XI Punjab (2013 and 2015) in the Mohali venue. Even in today’s game, Sunrisers managed to post the same total but did history repeat itself? No there was a major twist in the end!
At once it clearly looked like Punjab was going to finish off the match with ease considering the way they batted and the wickets in hand. But when Sunrisers got back in the game by dismissing a few batsmen, the pressure directly mounted on Punjab’s shoulders.
Punjab required 16 off the last 12 deliveries and Bhuvneshwar Kumar tossed the ball to Siddharth Kaul. The latter did the job pretty well as he picked a wicket and gave away just 5 runs. Needing 11 runs in the last over, Sam Curran came out to bat with KL Rahul at the other end.
Sam Curran chipped in with doubles off Nabi’s bowling and the target was reduced to 6 off 3 balls. However, there was nothing to worry about when KL Rahul was there at the crease. He smashed a boundary which relieved pressure on Punjab and then needing 2 to win, Rahul took two runs and bagged a thriller win for his team.
The pitch wasn’t really easy bat on and the Sunrisers’ target pretty much summed up the whole story. However, Kings XI Punjab managed to ease past the finishing line with one ball to spare. Kings XI Punjab now move third in the points table with four wins and two losses in their matches to their name.
Kings XI Punjab take on Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on April 10 (Wednesday) while Sunrisers Hyderabad who have three wins and three losses in their 6 games will take on Delhi Capitals at home venue on April 14 (Sunday).
