kohli backs selectors' decision

Mentioning the decision as a ‘smart one’, Indian skipper Virat Kohli supported selectors’ decision to rest Rohit Sharma in the forthcoming tour of India to West Indies where they will have to feature five one day internationals and a T20I match.

Rohit has had a hip injury last year and he received little rest over the time span. Virat Kohli said, “Rohit has come back and really had a full IPL season, which has been hectic. They reached the final, so he got lesser rest than anyone else. Plus he had a massive hip surgery, so muscles around that area are usually vulnerable, and today also he felt a bit of stiffness in his right knee.”

“It is a conscious decision to everyone to give him a break. He is making the most of the form he is in right now. And I am sure he also knows and understands the whole situation” – Indian captain said.

On the other hand, pacer Jasprit Bumrah said that he has been told to have some rest after the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, 2017 as a part of workload management.

“I am totally fine. Selectors and team management said me to take rest. I am fully fit and there are no niggles. I am not disappointed. I have been doing things that I have been told to do” – said Bumrah.
