Kohli becomes India’s most successful overseas Test captain
India have started their ICC Test Championship in a much positive manner with an easy win against West Indies in the first Test of the three-match Test series between both nations.
India batted first in the first innings and were bowled out for 297. In reply the hosts were bundled out for 222 and India took a considerable lead of 75 runs when they entered into the second innings.
In the second innings, India declared at 343 for 7 and set a target of 419 for West Indies to win the first Test. Indian Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane registered a match winning ton and iy was his first one nearly in the last two years.
Chasing a huge target, the hosts were bowled out for just 100 runs and India comfortably won the match by 318 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of India in the fourth innings with yet another five-wicket haul.
With this win, Virat Kohli registered his 12th overseas Test win as captain and this is the highest by any Indian captain in the format. Previously Virat Kohli was tied with Sourav Ganguly who had the record for long years with 11 overseas Test wins. MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid are in the third and fourth places with six wins and five wins respectively.
