Kohli replies after being criticized for not picking Rohit

The Indian captain Virat Kohli was criticized by the fans including some experts for not picking Rohit Sharma in the first Test against West Indies.

When it looked like Rohit Sharma will finally get an opportunity to feature in the Test side again, he was denied the chance yet again as Hanuma Vihari was picked over him. The men in blue were criticized for this selection, however, India clinched a huge win by 318 runs in the end.

Vihari also made a healthy contribution as he scored t 93 in the second innings, helping Rahane put on a century stand and then taking India to a 418-run lead. The Indian captain also explained the reason behind picking Vihari after the match.

“Vihari got a nod because the combination is important. He’s an effective part-time bowler and helps us when we need to catch up with the over-rate. We have a group discussion and then we decide what’s best for the team. There will always be opinions about the XI, but people will know that it’s in the interest of the team.”

The statement gave a clear indication that Kohli wanted to send a message to the people who criticized him for not picking Rohit.

Meanwhile, Rohit scored a fifty in his last Test against Australia in 2019 and boasts of a brilliant record against the Windies which include two centuries in his first two Tests against the opponents in 2013 at home.
