Kohli should drop himself in third Test: Sehwag

After the start of the second Test match between South Africa and India, skipper Virat Kohli has been under the spotlight and has faced heavy criticism for dropping pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was on fire in the first Test.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was the first man who bashed the Indian captain Kohli and even said that Kohli should drop himself if he fails in the second test.

Sehwag said: “Watching Virat Kohli excluding Shikhar Dhawan for just one Test failure, and Bhuvneshwar for no reason at all, Kohli should drop himself in the third Test, if he fails to perform in Centurion.”

When asked why Ishant Sharma was picked over Bhuvneshwar, Kohli said he preferred Ishant over Bhuvi due to the bouncy track and because of the height of Ishant.

Sehwag doesn’t agree with the Indian skipper at all: “Excluding Bhuvneshwar wasn’t the right decision. Citing that Ishant might benefit with his height, Kohli has hurt Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s self-confidence. They could have played Ishant in place of any other bowler. Bhuvneshwar performed well in Cape Town and excluding him like this isn’t justified.”

Former South African pacer Allan Donald was also shocked because of the selection. He said: “Bhuvi out of the team!! Are you all kidding me?”
