Kohli smashes a glorious fifty on return

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain and the biggest attraction of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli has made his comeback to the game on Friday with the match against Mumbai Indians, and he returned with a bang, hammering his 27th fifty to become the leading run-scorer in IPL history.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper returned to action against Mumbai Indians after a short injury lay-off and smashed his 27th half-century of the Indian Premier League.

Thanks to his 47-ball 62, Kohli leapfrogged Suresh Raina to become the leading run-scorer in the IPL with 4172 runs. Raina (4171) is now second on the list  by Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir.

However, despite Kohli’s sensational knock on return before getting dismissed by Mitchell McClenaghan, RCB couldn’t make quite a high score up against the home side, as they were restricted to a paltry total of 142 runs for the loss of five wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

Kohli played his part very well, but he was left frustrated, looking for some good support from the star-studded squad but that went in vain, with Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers being the second and third highest scorer with just 22 and 19 runs respectively.
