Kohli surpasses Lara in all-time greats with 912 rating points
Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s performance in the final Test against South Africa has propelled him to reach 912 points in the ICC Test batsman ranking. With that he surpassed West Indian great Brian Charles Lara and now standing on 26th in the all-time list.
Kohli is now two rating points away from Sunil Gavaskar, who is placed highest among Indian batsmen on the list. Gavaskar gathered 916 points against England in 1979 Oval Test.
The top of the list adorned by Steven Smith, he is in the second position on the all-time great list just behind Sir Donald Bradman with 947 points.
Despite India’s series lost, scoring 286 runs in three Test matches, Virat Kohli was the top scorer in the just concluded series against South Africa. Kohli also hammered a prolific 153 run knock in the first innings of the second Test.
After losing the first two Test matches, India broke the losing streak in the third and final Test at the Wanderers.
