Kohli masterclass thrashes South Africa 5-1

In the 6 match ODI series between South Africa and India, three things were constant throughout the series – Virat Kohli’s masterclass, Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal’s magical bowling and the last but not the least India’s consistent performance as a team.

Having won the series already, the men in blue had nothing to lose but they had an opportunity to earn some more pride and finish the series with more respect and in the end they have done it successfully and comfortably by 8 wickets.

Indian captain Virat Kohli put South Africa to bat first and the consistent failures from the South African captain Aiden Markram continued in the last ODI too. Except Khaya Zondo and Phehlukwayo, none of the batsman could make a mark and South Africa were bowled out for just 204 runs.

Young star Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowler for India who picked up 4 wickets with leg spinner Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah picking up 2 wickets each to restrict South Africa to a small total.

In reply, India lost Rohit Sharma early but the man who is in the form of his life continued his brilliance and South Africa couldn’t find no way yet again to stop the Indian captain. Kohli became the first man to score 500 runs in a bilateral series and that was not the end. He also scored his 35th ODI hundred and took his side over the line comfortably in the end.

With that, dominant India finish the series with 5-1 and this will remain a series to not forget for the men in blue as it was their first ever ODI series win in South Africa.

Brief score:

SA 204 (46.5 ov) | Zondo 54 (74) | Thakur 4/52, Chahal 2/38
IND 206/2 (32.1 ov) | Kohli 129*, Rahane 34* | Ngidi 2/54
