Kuldeep moves to 2nd spot in ICC T20 rankings
Kuldeep Yadav who is known for the knack of spinning the web and weaving the magic against the opposition achieved his career-best second rank in the latest ICC T20 rankings. The ever-so-talented wrist spinner proved his worth whenever the ball is thrown at him.
His 2/26 in the recently-concluded T20I against New Zealand helped him jump to a notch to seize the best spot. India dropped two ranking points due to their 1-2 T20I series loss at the hands of New Zealand but still, they maintained the second position behind Pakistan.
The 24-year-old wrist spinner dismissed two well-set openers namely Tim Seifert and Colin Munro in the only match he has played during the series. Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan still dominates the table and it looks like he is well set on the No.1 spot.
Interestingly, there is Indian bowler in the top 10 other than Kuldeep Yadav. His partner-in-crime Yuzvendra Chahal dropped six places to take the 17th spot following a string of shoddy bowling displays in the New Zealand series. As far as pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is concerned, he maintained his 18th rank.
Coming to the batsmen’s rankings, Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma exchanged three places with KL Rahul, who didn’t spice it up in the recent series.
Rohit stands 7th as per latest rankings while Rahul has slipped to 10th place. Rohit’s partner Shikhar Dhawan has gained a notch to be 11th while the skipper Virat Kohli’s absence from the series means that his ranking dropped four places to take the 19th spot as he joins Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza.
Well, Kohli wouldn’t worry too much about his ranking as it is certain that he would improve his rankings in the games to come. Pakistani batsman Babar Azam takes the No.1 spot. As far New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is concerned, he moved up one place to 12th spot.
