Kusal Mendis arrested after a road accident

Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis was arrested by the local police, following a road accident in the early morning, nearly at 5.30am.

There has been some controversies revolving around the Sri Lankan cricket for the past few days. The hottest one was the match-fixing allegation made by the former Sri Lankan Sports Minister, regarding the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Now the controversy is sorted out, as the national investigation unit abandoned the investigations on players as there was lack of evidence to proceed with the investigations. Meanwhile,  another controversy has stuck around the Sri Lankan cricket team, in the name of Kusal Mendis.

Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis, has been arrested by the local police on Sunday, following a road accident he is involved with. It is said that the accident happened in the early morning of the day, around 5.30 in a town named Panadura.

The cricketer knocked a 64-year-old man with his car in the town. Reportedly the old man was spot death and that has led to the trouble for the Sri Lankan player. Immediately he has been arrested by the local police.

According to the police media reports, the cricketer will be first taken to the hospital for the medical check-ups and treatments, if needed. Then he will be produced before the court.
